Qatar Chamber, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, has launched the updated version of the ‘Labour Re-employment Platform for Private Sector’, an electronic platform that assists companies to recruit from the local market.
The launch was held during a meeting of the chamber and the ministry’s Joint Coordination Committee in the presence of the Qatar Chamber general manager Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi and Labour Recruitment Department director Nasser Abdulla al-Mannai, as well as Captain Saad Hussein al-Kubaisi from the Ministry of Interior and Ibrahim Abdulla al-Mulla, deputy CEO of Qatari company WISA Co
Speaking at the meeting, al-Sharqi stressed the chamber’s interest to launch the upgraded platform, in coordination with the ministry.
He noted that this will help companies obtain skilled and experienced workers from the local market instead of recruiting from outside the country, which saves time and maintains the continuity of projects.
Al-Sharqi also said the platform helps streamline the transfer of employment from companies that have reduced their businesses or that have redundant workers to other companies willing to hire new workers.
He said many companies have benefited from the platform during the last period, noting that the chamber launched the platform to support the private sector and assist “troubled companies.”
“The chamber promotes the platform among business owners and local companies to encourage them to use it and obtain the needed employment,” he said.
Al-Sharqi called on companies hiring new employees to register on the platform and select from the laid-off labourers.
This will be supervised by the Ministry of Labour, in accordance with the applicable laws and procedures of the state.
He said there will be subsequent developments to the platform in the coming period to provide more benefits for all parties.
He called on companies to provide feedback to further develop the platform.
Al-Sharqi also thanked the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Interior for their efforts facilitating the platform.
For his part, al-Mannai thanked the chamber for its positive cooperation with the Ministry of Labour in the development of the platform, saying it was the result of an integrated effort between both parties and that it will contribute significantly to strengthening the Qatari labour market.
He stressed the ministry’s keenness on facilitating procedures for companies that adhere to labour laws, noting that companies that will benefit from the platform are those that are committed to the labour law and that do not have any labour violations, such as delaying wages.
Al-Mannai also said the platform will contribute to improving the Qatari labour market, streamlining the transfer of employment between companies, speeding up obtaining skilled labour, and shortening the time needed for recruiting new employees from abroad.
This enables companies to obtain their employment needs to complete its projects as per schedule, he added.
