The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported Saturday 96 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 118 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 364,332. In a statement, the MoPH said that 78 of the new confirmed cases are among community and 18 cases among travellers. It pointed out that 6,807,116 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program, adding that 1,251 doses have been administered in the past 24 hours.

The ministry further added that 1,567,109 booster doses have been administered to date, explaining that 89.5% of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses. In its statement, the MoPH explained that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.
It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease, noting that the support of the community in adhering to the government restrictions and Covid-19 precautions, in addition to the high vaccination rate, have played a significant role in reaching this stage and stabilizing the number of new daily cases.
The MoPH called for caution and continued adherence to restrictions and precautionary and preventive measures, and to contact 16000 helpline immediately if anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms, as early detection of the disease makes it easier to obtain appropriate treatment and increases the recovery chances.
