Next generation aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner has an important role in the Qatar Airways fleet, said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, HE Akbar al-Baker.
“Today we celebrate the Boeing 787’s 10th Anniversary, a next generation aircraft that has an important role in the Qatar Airways fleet,” al-Baker told Gulf Times.
“It was back in 2012 that Qatar Airways became the Middle East launch customer for the Boeing 787, and today our fleet consists of 30 of the aircraft type. As one of the few global airlines to never stop flying throughout the pandemic, the Boeing 787 plays a significant role in the airline’s ability to remain agile and sustainable throughout the Covid-19 crisis to date.
“It is with this in mind that Qatar Airways extended its commitment with the recent introduction of seven new Boeing 787-9 aircraft, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
