The Ministry of Culture and Sports, represented by the Youth Affairs Department, will participate in celebrating the Arab Youth Day, for the first time on Monday.
The Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers for Youth and Sports agreed in its 66th session to celebrate the Arab Youth Day on July 5, aiming to draw the attention of the Arab community to youth issues, and to celebrate the potential of this group as a major partner in the societies of the region, emphasising that youth are not just beneficiaries, rather they are leaders and essential partners in the efforts to find solutions to issues facing development in the Arab world, and in providing the necessary support for the future of their countries.
To mark the occasion, youth centres and youth committees at sports clubs in Qatar will organise a number of youth activities aimed at strengthening ties between Arab youth, emphasising their important role in developing and advancing their societies, and in finding solutions to their problems.
Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports Maha al-Rumaihi said that the ministry will celebrate the first edition of the Arab Youth Day through a host of targeted youth programmes and activities, within the framework of the joint Arab action in the youth sector, aimed at promoting co-operation and the exchange of expertise and experiences between youth leaders in various Arab countries, in order to face challenges and respond to current and emerging youth problems and issues.
Al-Rumaihi noted that the Youth Affairs Department will launch an initiative to support the youth in Qatar (citizens and Arab residents), in co-operation with the Local Committee of the Arab Trainers Union, which will be a diploma in employment skills to empower Qatari and Arab youth, with the most important skills required for the labour market.
She noted that all youth centres and youth committees in sports clubs in Qatar have been asked to focus on organising youth events on this day, to highlight youth issues in the Arab world, based on the fact that Qatari youth, who are proud of their national identity and belonging to the Arab nation, are an integral part of Arab youth.
The Local Committee for Employment Skills, on behalf of the Arab Trainers Union which operates within the framework of the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the Arab League, announced a scholarship in co-operation with strategic partner, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Qatar.
The scholarship is an employment skills diploma that helps the jobseeker for work requirements, such as effective communication, developing success skills, building relationships, designing the CV and creativity in job interviews. The diploma includes 65 training hours in four sections: work requirements, digital skills, curriculum vitae, and job interviews.
Youth centres and youth committees at sports clubs will also participate in the activities to mark the Arab Youth Day. For example, the Media Center for Youth will present a panel discussion on the importance of media; the Simaisma and Al-Daayen Girls Forum will present a training workshop on empowerment and skills; Al Wakra Youth Center will organise a symposium on creative skills for youth in co-operation with the Nama Center and Qatar Business Incubation Center; Qatar Scientific Club will organise a symposium on information security and ethical hacking, and Qatar Volunteer Center will hold a dialogue session on the obstacles facing the youth in volunteering.
