Vodafone Qatar showcases enhanced GigaNet network

Saturday، 27 February 2021 09:38 PM

Vodafone Qatar announced Saturday the launch of a new cross-country campaign to showcase the improvements it has made to its GigaNet network.
The campaign demonstrates that the Vodafone network is at its strongest, biggest, and fastest point in the company’s history in order to better support both consumers and businesses.
Since 2018, Vodafone Qatar has poured more than QR1bn worth of investment into its advanced network. During that time, the number of Vodafone outdoor and indoor mobile sites in Qatar has increased by over 35%.
Users can access the network in more areas of the country than ever before with a higher quality of connections for data and voice, and while data traffic has increased by five times, Vodafone customers are experiencing 300% faster data speeds.
In the last year alone, network coverage has been significantly increased to improve Vodafone’s services in areas, such as Umm Slal, Al Khritiyat, Lusail City, The Pearl, Bani Hajer, Abu Nakhla, Rawdat Al Hamama, Al Mearad, Al Rayyan, Ras Laffan, Umm Saeed and Dukhan, among others.
Vodafone Qatar has been leading the development of 5G, the next generation of mobile connectivity, which brings faster speeds, increased network capacity, and lower latency levels. Seventy percent of Qatar’s population can now access Vodafone’s 5G network, the benefits of which are far-reaching.
Vodafone has also been continuing the rollout of its extensive fibre infrastructure. Connections to this service have doubled for homes and business in a number of areas, including those in The Pearl, Lusail City, Msheireb Downtown Doha, Gharaffa, Abu Hamour, West Bay, Wukair, Industrial Area, Al Sadd and Al Waab.
For enterprises, connectivity has been extended with a portfolio of managed services and smart solutions, including the Internet of Things (IoT). Vodafone’s nationwide Narrowband IoT network (NB-IoT) has been powering a host of IoT solutions for smart cities and several industries since 2019, enabling connections that weren’t previously possible and bolstering Qatar’s digital economy and digital transformation.
Vodafone Qatar recently reported its highest-ever net profit following the close of its 2020 financial year, a 29% increase compared to 2019 and despite the impact of Covid-19, the company continued enhancing its network to support the community and country.
Vodafone Qatar CEO Sheikh Hamad Abdulla al-Thani said: “We are not the network we were when we launched over 10 years ago, and we are not the network we will be tomorrow. We never settle and we consistently challenge ourselves to be better, which is what our customers deserve.
“The more we achieve, the more we invest. We’re proud that our network is bigger, faster and stronger than ever before, and we have a clear commitment to building a state-of-the-art communications infrastructure that serves our country’s digital requirements and leads digital innovation in Qatar.”
To check network coverage and service availability in area across Qatar, Vodafone has created a dedicated page on www.vodafone.qa/GigaNet. The company is also encouraging customers to share feedback on their experience of its network as part of its ongoing campaign to make further improvements to its network and services, which they can do so on the website or Vodafone App. Vodafone’s customer care and technical team will be monitoring all feedback and taking any required actions.
