After Thursday's sandstorm, Qatar is again expected to see strong winds and poor visibility due to dust on Friday, according to the forecast. The Qatar Met department has also warned of strong winds with high sea and poor visibility in offshore areas on Friday.

The wind speed may go up to 41 knots at times offshore and 35 knots in some inshore areas on Friday, with the sea level rising to 14ft.

The detailed forecast also says it will be relatively cold during the day and clouds are expected along with blowing dust in some places. Cold conditions will also prevail by night.

Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 2km or less in some places occasionally. Offshore, slightly dusty to dusty conditions are likely and it will also be partly cloudy at times. The temperature is expected to range from 15C to 20C in Doha on Friday.

The Met department had earlier said the country is expected to see strong winds from Wednesday night and a noticeable drop in temperature during the weekend. “Weather charts indicate that the country will be affected by fresh to strong northwesterly winds from Wednesday night to Friday (January 20-22),” the weather office had said.

There will be a noticeable drop in temperature, with the maximum ranging from 18-24C and the minimum from 8-16C, and dropping below that especially in the southern and external regions.

The ‘apparent temperature’ would be less than that, the weather office had said. 'Apparent temperature' is the temperature equivalent perceived by humans, caused by the combined effects of air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed, according to information available online.
