His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on Monday held a meeting during which they discussed the most prominent developments in Palestine. The president briefed the Amir on the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause and the peace process in the Middle East, expressing thanks and appreciation to the Amir for Qatar's constant support to the brotherly Palestinian people.
For his part, His Highness the Amir affirmed Qatar's firm position regarding the Palestinian cause and its support for the brotherly Palestinian people in establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy, the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.
During the meeting, held at the Amiri Diwan , they discussed ways to consolidate bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
President Mahmoud Abbas left Doha Monday, after a working visit to the country.
Abbas and the accompanying delegation were seen-off upon departure at Doha International Airport by HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi and Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the State of Qatar Munir Ghannam.
