Kuwaiti voters began on Saturday morning casting ballots in unprecedented parliamentary elections held amidst health precautions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Voters are electing 50 representatives out of hundreds of male and female candidates who will represent five constituencies, 10 each.

The electoral commission designated five separate polling stations in each of the five constituencies designed for Covid-19 patients under quarantine, and who can take temporary permit to be able to go vote, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

Voting began at 8:00 a.m. and will proceed until 8:00 p.m. local time.

The health precautions during the voting process includes limited groups' gathering outside and inside the polling stations, wearing masks, sterilizing hands and wearing gloves. (QNA)
