Total number of registered new vehicles in Qatar during October reached 5,674; the Planning and Statistics Authority said and noted that it indicated a monthly decrease of 8.4% and an annual decrease of 13.5%.
The PSA’s ‘Qatar Monthly Statistical Bulletin’ showed that the issuance of new drivers licences had gone up 12% in October compared to September. 77% of these new licence holders were non-Qatari males.
One of the notable changes in October, according to the PSA was the increase in total traffic violations and traffic accidents at a monthly rate of 12.1% and 16.3% respectively compared to September.
In terms of traffic accident cases, (not counting the accidents without injuries), a total of 534 were recorded during October 2020, showing a monthly increase of 16.3% and an annual decrease by 10.9%.
Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accident cases (88%) during October followed by severe injuries (10%). Some 11 deaths were recorded in October, equivalent to 2% of total traffic accident cases.
October saw an increase in total e-government portal transactions by 15.7% compared to September, which represented an annual increase of 55.3% compared to October 2019, the PSA said.
As for Qatar’s banking sector; total broad money supply (M2) stood at QR583.1bn during October, representing an annual increase of 4.3% compared with October 2019.
On the other hand, cash equivalents; including commercial bank deposits, totalled QR875.7bn during October.
This represented an annual increase of 6.1% compared to October 2019, when deposits totalled approximately QR825.3bn.
The PSA data in terms of demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar decreased from 2.75mn in October 2019 to 2.72mn in October this year.
Regarding vital statistics, the PSA said some 2,409 births were registered during October this year. Also, an increase in the total Qatari births by 0.4% was seen in October compared to September.
On the other hand, some 226 deaths were registered during October, an increase of 4.6% compared to September.
October saw a monthly increase (by 16.5%) in marriage contracts while it experienced a monthly decrease of 17% in divorce certificates.
The total number of marriage contracts was 486, whereas the total number of divorce cases reached 191 in October.
As many as 14,263 beneficiaries gained from Social Security with a value of QR80mn in October. But it showed a monthly decrease of 1.7% and 4.3% respectively in terms of the value of social security and the number of beneficiaries, the PSA said.
