The Cabinet welcomed the Afghan peace negotiations that Doha is currently hosting within the context of Qatar's efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan and in implementation of the wise directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. The first positive results of Qatar's endeavour were achieved at the end of February 2020 with the signing of the peace agreement between the US and Taliban.

The Cabinet affirmed that Afghan negotiations, which are considered an achievement in themselves, constitute a milestone in Afghanistan's history and opens the way for the brotherly Afghan people to realise true national unity and a new era dominated by peace, security, stability and prosperity after more than 40 years of wars and conflicts.

By promoting brotherhood and tolerance, giving priority to the national interest and the aspirations of the Afghan people, the Doha negotiations can achieve the required success and reach a comprehensive agreement that achieves peace, preserves Afghanistan's unity, independence and sovereignty, and mobilises the energies of its people for development and construction, the Cabinet said.

The Cabinet praised the role of the US and all parties and international partners who exerted efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan, stressing that Qatar, which adopts dialogue as a method for resolving differences and settling disputes, will spare no effort in cooperating with the international community to achieve the desired goals of these negotiations and achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Afghan people for security, stability, peace and prosperity.

The Cabinet also welcomed the results of the third session of the Qatar-US strategic dialogue, which was held in Washington on September 14-15.
