Stenden University Qatar (SUQ) has officially launched its Alumni Advisory Board, the main role of which is to enhance the engagement of the university’s large alumni network.
“SUQ is one of the oldest and well-established higher education institutions in the State of Qatar and its large alumni body acts as one of the main pillars of the university. The majority of SUQ’s alumni still live and work in Qatar, and many of them hold key positions in various sectors and industries,” SUQ has said in a statement.
The newly-established board aims to develop a close-knit alumni community and further enhance the links between the university and its alumni.
It will also actively work towards enhancing awareness and further growing the reputation of the university. In addition to this, the board will establish and develop strong links with the student community on campus. The board will work closely with the management of the university and play an active ambassadorial and representational role.
The advisory board consists of the following seven members: Faruk Azad - assistant executive director of Business Development at Hamad Medical Corporation and chair of the board; Tamador al-Hor - Business Development manager at Qatar National Convention Centre and vice-chair of the board; Ahmad Abbassi - executive director of Competition and Football Development at Qatar Stars League; Vladimir Jankovic - senior manager at Fragomen Services; Maryam al-Kubaisi - Business Development manager at Discover Qatar; Sarah Loulou - lecturer at Stenden University Qatar; and Nadia Traktar - senior officer, Procurement at Katara Hospitality.
On the occasion of the board’s inauguration, Dr Ivan Ninov, executive dean of the university, said: “We are very proud of the achievements of our alumni and respect them as one of our greatest assets. They play a key role in our future development as an educational institution, and we will not be able to achieve much without their continuous support. They are and will always remain our best ambassadors and will further enhance our reputation as a university.”
Khadija Ibtihaj, head of Industry and Alumni Liaison at Stenden University Qatar, said: “It is our pleasure to have alumni of this calibre serving as Alumni Advisory Board members. We look forward to successful collaboration with all board members. We are quite confident that they will succeed in enhancing the sense of belonging among our alumni and act as a link between current students and alumni.”
Azad added: “It is an honour and a privilege to have been elected as a chair of the Alumni Advisory Board. I very much look forward to collaborate with my colleagues on the board and with all other alumni. I will exert all efforts to accomplish our mission and achieve our goals by building a cohesive alumni network and a highly engaged university community. In these difficult times, we believe the Alumni Advisory Board can connect the university with the real-life experiences and knowledge of our alumni to foster a fruitful exchange with our students.”
