Earth will be at the farthest point in its orbit around the sun (aphelion) at 2.35pm Doha time on July 4, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has said.
At that point, Earth will be about 152mn km from the sun's centre, according to a QCH statement.
QCH astronomy expert Dr Beshir Marzouk said Earth reaches the aphelion point in July every year, adding: "On July 4, the sun will appear smaller in the sky than any other time of year."
The average distance between Earth and the sun is called Astronomical Unit (AU), with 1AU equalling 149.7mn km approximately.
The opposite of aphelion is perihelion, the point in orbit where an object is nearest to the sun. Earth reaches its perihelion point in January every year.
