HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari has lauded Qatar Chamber and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their role in the successful launching of the “Made in Qatar” exhibition yesterday at the Kuwait International Fair.
Al-Kuwari and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Khaled Nasser Abdullah al-Roudan, inaugurated the exhibition, which is being held under the patronage of Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah.
“Made in Qatar” is organised by Qatar Chamber, in co-operation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) as strategic partner, and in co-ordination with Kuwait Chamber. The expo gathered as many as 220 Qatari manufacturing companies.
The exhibition was attended by Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani; Kuwait Chamber chairman Ali Mohammed Thunayan al-Ghanim; Qatar’s ambassador to Kuwait Bandar bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, as well as Qatari and Kuwaiti businessmen.
In a press statement, al-Kuwari expressed his thanks to the State of Kuwait for hosting the expo, saying that it emphasises the robust relations between both countries in all fields.
He also extended his congratulations to Kuwait for the celebrations of its national day. Al-Kuwari said Kuwait is Qatar’s 12th largest trade partner, noting that there is a large number of Qatari companies in Kuwait.
Al-Kuwari also praised the role played by Qatari and Kuwaiti Chambers in enhancing co-operation between both countries’ private sectors, as well as the large turnout of Kuwaiti businessmen in the expo’s first day.
On his part, al-Roudan welcomed the staging of the exhibition in Kuwait, and praised the distinct relations between both countries. He said a Kuwaiti expo “would be held in Qatar soon.”
The minister said the expo was the result of combined efforts by the private sector of both countries, affirming that this reflects the strong relations between its business sectors.
The “Made in Qatar” exhibition, which will conclude on February 22, aims to support national industries and products, highlight the progress and successes achieved by the Qatari industry over the past few years, support the state’s efforts at supporting the industry sector, as well as to open up new foreign markets to Qatari companies and enhance relations between Qatar and Kuwait. On the sidelines of the expo, meetings between Qatari and Kuwaiti businessmen will be held to review investment opportunities available and discuss means of building long-term cooperation between Qatari and Kuwaiti companies.
