A new book about Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships published by Qatar News Agency (QNA) was launched on Tuesday, as part of the activities of the 30th edition of Doha International Book Fair, which is currently held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The book launch was attended by QNA Director-General Yousuf Ibrahim al-Malki and Secretary of Qatar Dar Al Kutub and Director of Doha International Book Fair Jassim Ahmed al-Buainain.

The book documents in words and photos the story of Qatar hosting this tournament, which is held in one of the world capitals every two years, and which Doha hosted for the first time in an Arab capital and in the Middle East region.

In his introductory speech about the book, QNA director-general said: "Qatar News Agency was keen in its press coverage of the tournament to keep abreast of the introductions and events of this story since the announcement of our beloved country's victory to host this tournament in November 2014 until the closing ceremony on October 7, 2019, through written and photo news coverage that was transmitted to the world via QNA".

"QNA sports, technical and administrative journalistic team has endeavoured to perform the task of coverage entrusted to it successfully and in a determination and comprehensive way around the clock, and to prepare news, reports and interviews at the local and international levels", al-Malki added.

The book presents the preparations made by the Supreme Organising Committee for the championship headed by HE the President of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani.
