Under the auspices of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the 16th International Junior Science Olympiad will kick off on Wednesday with the participation of 70 countries at Qatar National Convention centre.

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed bin Abdul Wahed al-Hammadi will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony.

Qatar is hosting this year’s edition, under the slogan “Inspiring Today's Young Generation for the Skills of Tomorrow”.

Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi, chairman of the Supreme Committee for organising the Olympiad, and Dr Khalid Mohamed Yousuf al-Ali, the official spokesperson for the Olympiad, as well as Prof Paresh Joshi, president of the International Junior Science Olympiad, will speak at the event.

The winning students of the competition organised by Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute competition will be honoured during the ceremony.

Excellencies Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials of Qatar and dignitaries and undersecretaries from friendly countries will attend the opening ceremony. Representatives of regional and international organisations, diplomats from various mission in Qatar, educational leaders, teachers and students will also be present during the ceremony.

The 16th International Junior Science Olympiad is to conclude on December 11.
