Vodafone Qatar, the Official Telecommunications Sponsor of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, continues to introduce innovative fan experiences with its latest ‘Fan of the Match’ in-stadium competition.
‘Fan of the Match’ — a first for Qatar sports events — gives all fans the opportunity to take part in the digital quiz that runs during the half-time of each match in a test of their knowledge on Arabian Gulf Cup history.
Fans simply need to access www.vf.qa/AGC from their mobile phone to start the quiz and answer the timed five questions. The player that answers the most questions correctly in the fastest time wins and gets a prize from Vodafone. The competition engages not only those playing the quiz but all fans in the stadium as everyone can see the questions, answers and names of those in the lead on the stadium screen. Fan of the Match will feature in each match until the final is played on December 8. Scores of match goers have already participated in Vodafone’s in-stadium experience.
‘Fan of the Match’ comes on top of other digital fan experiences that Vodafone Qatar has actively delivered since the beginning of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The Vodafone Fan Zone has given thousands of visitors the chance to experience a customised Augmented Reality (AR) game powered by Vodafone’s 5G GigaNet network as well as a Virtual Reality (VR) football game. Moreover, Vodafone’s specially designed platform www.fans.vf.qa, open to everyone in Qatar, offers interactive games that allows players to predict match results and answer a series of quizzes and trivia on a daily basis.
Vodafone Qatar Business Services director Mahday Saad al-Hebabi said, “Our Fan Zone demonstrates that we have our sights set firmly on delivering outstanding digital experiences for Qatar’s major sporting events. Most importantly, Vodafone Qatar will continue being a partner in the country’s vision for delivering the most outstanding FIFA World Cup in 2022 with unmatched fan experiences.”
Excitement among fans is at its peak with only three of the thrilling final tournament matches remaining. Vodafone Qatar is covering the two venues — Khalifa International Stadium and Abdulla Bin Khalifa Stadium — with its GigaNet network to keep thousands of fans connected during the games.
