A high-level delegation led by Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) president Mohamed Ali al-Mannai is representing Qatar at the ITU Telecom World 2019. The event, which concludes Thursday is organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Budapest, Hungary.
The ITU Telecom World is an annual event that aims to immediately deliver economic development and social good, and includes a high-level forum, international exhibition for digital solutions, and awards programme.
The event brings together governments, regulators, digital start-ups, key Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry players, consultants, and experts from emerging and developed markets around the world.
ITU Telecom World 2019 includes ministerial roundtables and various forum sessions to discuss different topics like the role of government in 5G and high-capacity network deployment, expanding access with new radio technologies, ‘Regulatory dialogue: spectrum challenges ahead of World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19)’, and ‘Digital integrity: values and principles of the digital future’.
On the sidelines of the event, al-Mannai met with ITU secretary general Houlin Zhao and delivered to him a formal invitation on behalf of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti to attend Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (Qitcom 2019). The two officials also discussed ways to enhance collaboration and coordination between CRA and ITU towards the development of the ICT sector.
The exhibition showcased innovative initiatives, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and technologies from across the globe, as well as the ITU Telecom World Awards. The ITU Telecom World 2020 will take place from September 6 to 9 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
ITU is the UN’s specialised agency for ICTs. Founded in 1865 to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks, ITU allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strives to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.
