Alexander Bolshunov struck late to win a dramatic men's cross-country World Cup 50-kilometre mass start on Saturday as Russia swept the podium places in Oslo.
New standings leader Bolshunov trailed compatriot Maxim Vylegzhanin into the last kilometre but sprinted clear to win by exactly 1 second in 2 hours 23 minutes 49.8 seconds.
Vylegzhanin claimed second, 6 tenths ahead of Andrey Larkov at the Holmenkollen event with another Russian, Ilia Semikov, fourth.
Martin Johnsrud Sundby was the highest home athlete in sixth while Norway's Hans Christer Holund, who won the 50km at the recent world championships, was 15th.
Previous standings leader Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo of Norway was 38th and now trails Bolshunov, the youngest winner of the prestigious race at 22 years and 68 days, by 49 points ahead of Tuesday's sprint in nearby Drammen.
Austria were not represented after skiers Max Hauke and Dominik Baldauf were caught in a doping scandal at their home worlds in Seefeld.
In Nordic combined, Japan's Go Yamamoto topped the ski jump but was uncompetitive in the 10km cross-country as home favourite Jarl Magnus Riiber took his 11th season win.
Already assured of the overall title, Riiber beat Finland's Ilkka Herola by 2 tenths of a second in a sprint finish with Norway's Espen Bjoernstad completing the podium 7.8 seconds back.
The Nordic combined season finishes with a pair of events in Schonach, Germany, next weekend.
Saturday's action at Holmenkollen concludes with a men's team ski jumping event on the large hill.
