Amir, Chadian leader review developments in peace talks

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met at his office at Al Bahr Palace with President of the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Chad Lt Gen Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, in addition to the latest developments in Chadian peace talks in Doha. In that regard, president of the Transitional Military Council of Chad expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for Qatar's hosting of the negotiations, and the efforts being made to ensure their success.

For his part, His Highness the Amir expressed Qatar's support to national reconciliation in Chad, to ensure its people can enjoy peace, security, stability, and development. His Highness the Amir also stressed that the negotiations taking place between the government of Chad and a number of opposition groups represent an important first step towards reconciliation. His Highness the Amir wished Lt Gen Mahamat Itno well in the comprehensive national dialogue on August 20 in Chad's capital N'Djamena.
The meeting also dealt with regional and international developments of joint interest.
The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and ranking officials. On the Chadian side, it was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the president of the Chadian Transitional Military Council.
