The investiture ceremony of the School Student Parliament members for the academic year 2022-23 was held recently at MES Indian School, Abu Hamour Branch.
The chief guest was Indian embassy first secretary Sachin Dinker Shankpal.
School's acting president Dr Najeeb K P, vice president A P Khalil and finance director Asharaf Sharafudeen graced the event. Principal Dr Mohammed Haneef welcomed the gathering.
The chief guest appreciated the school's efforts of providing opportunities to students to take part in activities such as elections. He also congratulated the newly-appointed school parliament and motivated the students to become good leaders.
A welcome dance was performed by Sreebhadra (grade VIII) and a motivational song sung by Nayan Thambi (grade XI). Najeeb urged the student leaders to be dutiful and responsible.
The official declaration of the school parliament members was done by returning officer Riya Antony.
The chief guest presented badges to the elected members and house captains. The house prefects' induction ceremony was done by the management committee.
House patrons for the academic year 2022-23 were appointed at the event. They are Bujair (Emerald), Sruthy (Sapphire), Nipin (Topaz) and Rajeena (Ruby).
The chief guest handed over the school flag to head boy and head girl. Physical education teacher Sajudheen Abdul Kareem handed the sports flag to sports captains.
House patrons officially passed the power to house captains by giving the flag.
The principal delivered the oath to the head boy and head girl. The oath to the other leaders was administered by head girl Husna Saeed.
The march by all the parliament members was spectacular and set the mood for the event. After receiving the badge, the head boy delivered the acceptance speech. Vice principal Pramila Kannan proposed a vote of thanks.
