The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the approval of the Israeli occupation authorities’ building of 3,557 new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Haitham Abu al-Ful, stressed that this step is a flagrant and grave breach of the international law and resolutions of  international legitimacy, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No 2334.
He said that the settlement policy, whether building or expanding settlements, confiscating lands or displacing Palestinians, is neither legitimate nor legal, rejected and condemned.
He said it is a unilateral step that violates international law, undermines the foundations of peace, and chances of achieving a comprehensive and just peace on the basis of the two-state solution. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates had condemned in the strongest terms the approval of the so-called Jerusalem Local Planning and Building Committee on plans to build 3,557 new settlement units, and considered them an extension of the process of expanding settlements and Judaising the Holy City.
