Qatar University (QU) and Snoonu Trading & Services have signed an agreement aiming to exchange experience, conduct studies, hold conferences, meetings and training for students, provide internship and employment opportunities for QU students and graduates, have co-operation in any other possible field of mutual interest, and provide support for events held at QU.
The agreement was signed by QU vice-president for Student Affairs Dr Eiman Mustafawi and Snoonu CEO Hamad Mubarak al-Hajri.
During the signing ceremony, Dr Mustafawi said: “We are thrilled to sign this agreement with Snoonu, a distinguished and pioneering company in its field. We are pleased to be able to provide student training opportunities and job opportunities for graduates as well as highlight to our students this company’s inspiring development, which can empower them in the field of entrepreneurship. We look forward to increasing cooperation with Snoonu in many fields.”
Al-Hajri noted, “Every year, Snoonu attracts 10 QU sophomore and junior students, and 10 graduates from QU to work and train part-time in Snoonu. Through the training, we aim to improve job performance through our company’s experienced staff in many fields, including software engineering, business intelligence systems, data storage, business management and consumer behaviour study. We have a number of areas ranging from 15-20 types of positions.”
Al-Hajri concluded by praising the performance of trainee students and graduates of QU, noting that the best engineers at Snoonu are QU graduates. In addition, the company is keen to attract sophomore and junior students believing that training at an early stage allows them to develop in their field more. He also noted that everyone who joins Snoonu becomes a part of the company’s success story.
QU's vice-president for Research & Graduate Studies Professor Mariam al-Maadeed praised Snoonu’s efforts and the company's support for the Qatari economy in general and their vision led by knowledge. Dr al-Maadeed also looked forward to presenting a range of ideas for co-operation between the two parties in supporting student research in general, supporting graduate research, and providing training programmes for Snoonu employees at QU.
