The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) on Wednesday announced the results of the General Census of population, housing and establishments 2020, considered an important national project implemented according to the Cabinet decision no 4 for 2018.
HE Dr Salih bin Mohamed al-Nabit, president of PSA, pointed out that this census is a requirement for preparing the 3rd development strategy (2023-2027), and as part of implementing the UN Statistics Division for the countries to carry out such censuses, in addition to the decisions of the GCC Statistical Center.
The senior official recalled that this particular census, carried out in exceptional and challenging circumstances, focused on using the official administrative records. The 2020 census is considered the sixth population census in Qatar since the creation of the PSA, as the previous censuses were held in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2010 and 2015 (simplified).
HE al-Nabit thanked all the involved government, private entities, citizens and expatriates for their great support and positive response that reflected on the immense success of the overall process.
Nasser Saleh al-Mahdi, director of PSA Department of Censuses, Surveys and Statistical Methods and director of Qatar Census 2020, gave a presentation on how to benefit from the detailed information. Such data could help sustain the expansion and growth plans of different sectors including private businesses and public services, it was pointed out.
The full details of the reports on the results of the 2020 census could be viewed at the PSA website or mobile apps.
