Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) hosted Teachers' Day celebrations on September 5 to honour teachers of Indian schools in Qatar.
The hybrid event, streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, was attended by over 70 teachers nominated by their respective institutions.
The chief guest was Indian embassy first secretary (consular and community affairs) and ICC co-ordinating officer Xavier Dhanraj.
Doha Bank Group CEO Dr R Seetharaman was guest of honour.
Principals of Indian schools - A P Sharma (Birla Public School), Syed Shoukath Ali (Ideal Indian School), M P Philip (Bhavan's Public School), Meenal Bakshi (DPS Monarch International School) and Pramila Kannan (Greenwood International School) were presented bouquets by chief guest and guest of honour. All teachers were presented with tokens of appreciation.
Teachers C Salwa and Aljo John and students Shrey A Bhatt and Shyamanti Bhoumik spoke about Teachers' Day and their experiences. There was a classical dance performance by a group of students.
ICC president P N Baburajan presided. General secretary Krishna Kumar welcomed the gathering. Sujith Kumar was the anchor. Shweta Koshti proposed a vote of thanks.
