Bunts Qatar, a forum of Indian expatriates from the Karnataka state, conducted various environment-related events from March to June and held a prize distribution ceremony on July 16.
The virtual event was graced by Friends of the Environment Center public relations manager Fahad Abdullah Malak as the guest of honour.
Guest speakers Dr Radhouan Benhamadou (associate professor, College of Art & Science – Qatar University) spoke on 'Climate Changes and Covid-19,' and Ashwath Hegde (founder and managing director, Envigreen Biotech – India) on 'Plastic free environment'.
Various competitions such as elocution, best out of waste, poster making, card making, colouring and painting, and plant workshop were conducted for the members of the forum. More than 150 saplings were distributed and planted during this period.
At the prize distribution ceremony, Bunt Qatar president Dr Padmashree Shetty welcomed the gathering and informed that the environment campaign will continue throughout the year. For example, Bunts Qatar is conducting a plastic free awareness campaign during July. Cultural secretary Vibha Krishna Shetty compered the event and delivered a vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude to everyone who made the campaign a success. Shetty also thanked senior lady members Harini Rammohan Rai and Sudha Manjunath Shetty of Little Flower Kindergarten, who provided their school premises to plant the saplings and Manjunath Shetty and family for providing the venue and logistics for the prize distribution ceremony.
