beIN Media Group, the global sports and entertainment broadcaster and its flagship sports channel beIN Sports has broadcasted an exclusive show starring FIFA World Cup and French legend Marcel Desailly. The show will be hosted by Richard Keys and will be broadcast across beIN’s global network, including in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena).
As the official broadcaster and the home of the FIFA World Cup across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), beIN Sports’ exclusive show ‘Marcel Desailly: The Rock’ will showcase untold stories and clips of the French legend and winner of the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
The interview will also discuss Marcel Desailly’s career in European football, the story of Paolo Maldini with the Brazilian Ronaldo and his experience playing with Chelsea in England.
On what Paolo Maldini told Marcel Desailly before they both had to face the Brazilian Ronaldo: “It’s been the only time when Paolo Maldini, I was playing midfield at the time, he was playing for Inter Milan (the Brazilian Ronaldo) and it’s the first time Maldini tells me “Marcel, stay around me, cover me, cover my back” because you know so he doesn’t have to explain because it’s the first ever probably in his twenty-two years of football career that he mentioned that he was a little bit scared of a player”.
On winning the 1998 FIFA World Cup, Marcel Desailly said: “We’ve done everything to get to this final but the images of Diego Armando Maradona in 1986 getting the trophy, kissing the trophy. Argentina crossed my mind throughout; it was a possibility to achieve something unique. And even now I think it’s even more sweet. You are in your own country, for us it’s been very special, because that’s what people remember about the 1998 FIFA World Cup.”
