Al Rayyan Municipality carried out 5,249 periodic inspection tours on food establishments during March. They resulted in issuing 55 violation reports, with eight transferred to the security authorities concerned while 37 complaints against food establishments related to public health were followed up.
Officials inspected 4,622 livestock carcasses in private slaughterhouses with 50 carcasses and 365kg meat destroyed after being found unfit for human consumption. Four food establishments were closed for not adhering to health requirements. As many as 56,360kg vegetables and fruits were destroyed. From Al Sailiya market, 50 samples were collected and sent to the central laboratory.
