Barwa City Monday Activity Group (BCMAG) is a voluntary group founded by Shalini Tiwari in 2014.
BCMAG recently celebrated its anniversary to commemorate the successful completion of seven years of imparting health awareness among women.
Shalini, who is a yoga instructor, acupressure therapist, counsellor and dietician, formed the group along with a few other like-minded women of Barwa City. Since then, she has been doing the voluntary service of teaching yoga, breathing techniques, aerobics, healing through acupressure and naturopathy, and diet management in Barwa City, with women of various nations. Currently, with the assistance of the present members – Suman Aggarwal, Indira Bhat, Rajeshwari and Nisha James – fitness activities are being conducted every Monday of the week.
From November 2019 to Jan 2020, BCMAG conducted yoga classes at the Dana Club, Qatar which was attended by many women from outside Barwa City. The participants were so overwhelmed that they wanted to continue further. Keeping in mind the pandemic situation, the classes were conducted online by Shalini through Instagram. Problem-specific yoga practices were also taught through online platforms that reached the women from across the world during the pandemic.
The members were motivated by the felicitation of the ‘Best Student.’ Raama from Nepal, Somee from Pakistan and Abbey from UK have been felicitated, so far. On the eve of the seventh anniversary of BCMAG, the group earned words of appreciation from various prominent personalities such as Dr Mohan Thomas, president of Indian Sports Centre; Milan Arun, former president of Indian Cultural Centre; Amita Dahoo, president of Indian Women Association; and many others.
