Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani attended the second meeting of the Committee for Public Affairs and Social Development Through Sport at the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which was held Monday under the chairmanship of Luis Mourinho, in the presence of Dr Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland.
During the meeting, the members discussed strategies for the development of sport and the Olympic movement in the international community, and the recent developments and successes achieved by the International Olympic Committee.
Dr Thomas Bach gave a speech on the latest developments related to the Olympic movement, and thanked the members for their efforts, praising the important role of the Public Affairs and Social Development Committee Through Sport in strengthening the role of the International Olympic Committee as a leading institution in the field of thought, and a strong representative on the world sports scene, and a major player in promoting the international development and peace.
The meeting also reviewed items on the agenda and decisions taken on them.
HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani also attended ice hockey competitions in which Qatari player, Thawab al-Subaie participated, as part of the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne.
