Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation, is conducting a summer camp for children at its state-of-the-art facilities. An added feature to the annual camp is an Autism Camp being held for children with special needs.
The goal of the summer camp, which is organised and conducted by Al Shaqab’s Equine Education Department (EED), is twofold — to allow their top riders to maintain their riding skills during the quiet summer months, while also serving to motivate the next generation of Qatari riders in taking up horse riding as a sport.
Capturing the excitement and spirit of Qatar’s love for equestrian sport, the camp, which is held for children aged 3-17,  began on June 22  and will run until July 25 and involves 45 minutes of horse-riding lessons. The Autism Camp is scheduled will be held till July 4.
Three sessions will be held every day at 11.15am, 12.30pm, and 1.30pm respectively, making it more convenient for families and those attending.
Classes will be held from Saturday to Thursday, with students receiving six hourly lessons over the course of the week in which they are enrolled.
Mohamed Sultan al-Suwaidi, Manager, Equine Education Department at Al Shaqab, said: “The popularity of horse riding is increasing in Qatar. Al Shaqab’s Equine Education Department is committed to nurturing the nation’s love for equestrian sport and harnessing that interest. The Summer Camp, which is handled by our well-trained and highly specialised staff, will serve as a great opportunity for the next generation of riders.”
