Al Udeid Air Base organised on Friday the second edition of the Family Day Festival for officers and members of the Qatar Amiri Air Force and members of friendly allied forces working in the air base, in the presence of Amiri Air Force Commander Major General Mubarak al-Kumait al-Khayareen and US Air Central Command Commander Lt Gen Joseph Guastella.
The festival included a variety of events including Arda, cartoon characters and popular games. It also included the activities of camel and horse riding, shooting and archery, drawing henna, handicrafts and traditional and popular foods, in addition to an exhibition of old cars and marine tools.
Al Udeid Air Base Commander Brigadier (Pilot) Fahad Abdul Wahid Ibrahim al-Arik said that the festival was a great opportunity for the families of officers and members of the Qatar Armed Forces and friendly forces and their families to entertain, meet and promote the spirit of love and familiarity among them.
He added that this event brings together the families of the Qatari Air Base members with the families of friendly forces to exchange cultures and introduce the country's heritage, customs and traditions, adding that this year more than 1,000 men, women and children are participating.
Brigadier Fahd al-Arik said that this edition of the festival is held at a date other than the one originally scheduled which coincides with the Qatar National Day celebrations, but the next edition will be on its original date, praising the constructive co-operation between the Air Base and Al Shaqab, Katara - the Cultural Village, Qatar Shooting and Archery Association and the Department of Public Parks of the Ministry of Municipality and the Environment for their great efforts to make this festival a success.
