Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), Msheireb Properties’ (MP) flagship urban regeneration project, is now 88% complete with some areas of the project operational, it was announced.

Speaking to reporters at the opening of Cityscape Qatar 2018 on Sunday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, MP sales and leasing director Lee Talbott said they have opened phase one of the project, which include the Msheireb mosque, Qatar Academy – Msheireb (school), Msheireb prayer ground, Amiri Diwan and the acclaimed Msheireb Museums.
“We are also very excited to announce the launch of our first residential tower, ‘Wadi One,’ with 72 apartments will be ready to move in at the end of this year,” he added. “It offers some of the best views if not the best views in Qatar.”
The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), which is expected to move all its business to MDD in the second quarter of 2019, and flagship brands such as Novo cinemas and Al Meera, will soon form part of MDD – dubbed as the world’s largest certified sustainable and smart downtown community, according to MP.

The project features 100 mixed-use buildings, 800 residential units, more than 300 retail units and 17 commercial buildings, including four hotels, a school, three mosques, Msheireb Museums, and the Galleria Mall, among other establishments.
“The whole project has been done in phases and will be completed by 2020, which is also in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 as well,” Talbott said.
MP’s residential sales and leasing manager Nusair al-Ejli echoed Talbott’s statement saying that “majority of those units are almost reserved.”
MDD aims to provide residents, as well as domestic and foreign visitors, a unique shopping experience with its “innovative retail outlets,” which will operate year-round.
In a press statement, MP noted that it is also creating attractive investment opportunities by creating a range of leasing options, from the most luxurious brands, cafes and restaurants to recreational ‘edutainment’ areas.
The central downtown location offers quick “on-the-door step” access for residents and those working in the new commercial hubs of the downtown area, MP said.
Apart from a variety of retail offerings, al-Ejli noted that MDD also features a one-of-its-kind traffic and transport options such a free-of-charge tram rides, more than 10,000 parking spaces spread over six underground floors, pedestrian-friendly streets, bicycle lanes and the main hub station for Qatar Rail.
According to MP, all these features are complemented by the project’s modern, smart city infrastructure for seamless connectivity and communication.
Meanwhile, MP has partnered with Novo cinemas to showcase MDD’s development via the new flythrough video from two of its four hotels (Al Wadi Hotel Doha by MGallery and Mandarin Oriental) at Cityscape Qatar 2018.
Three large-scale masterpiece models have also been displayed at the event, highlighting the “magnificence and grandeur” of the project and its iconic Barahat Msheireb, which is considered as Qatar’s biggest open-air square. It features the largest retractable roof in the Middle East, allowing for all-year-round use.
Residents and visitors will enjoy dining at 11 food and beverage outlets in the area even during the summer due to innovative cool pool systems, designed to push chilled air from the ground up.
The Mandarin Oriental hotel and the Cultural Forum are both located next to Barahat Msheireb.
Once 100% complete, Talbott said MDD will be hosting some 20,000 to 30,000 residents and another 30,000 workers in the district, excluding tourists.
