Oliver Kahn says he is not interested in Bayern sports director job

DPA, Munich: Former Bayern and German national team goalkeeper Oliver Kahn said that he is not interested in filling Bayern Munich’s empty sports director role.
“The job of sports director never was, never could be, an option for me,” Kahn said, speaking on German broadcaster ZDF, after Bayern’s 5-1 victory over Arsenal in the Champions League last 16.
“That’s why I’ve always been pretty relaxed about the whole thing,” Kahn said.
The 47-year-old played for Germany’s most successful Bundesliga club from 1994 to 2008, and had recently been tipped by some German media outlets to take the job after Matthias Sammer gave up the role last year.
Club boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told ZDF Wednesday that he did not want to comment on any possible candidates for the role, including Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Max Eberl, out of respect for other clubs.
Last week, former Germany defender Philipp Lahm, who says he will retire from club football at the end of this season, also said he did not want the job.
