A burglary has been reported from a prominent supermarket, located on the southern side of the Mathar Qadeem. Sources told Gulf Times that a huge amount was reportedly stolen from the market's locker, which was broken by thieves, who apparently used a sharp edged weapon to open the vault.

The incident may have taken place in the wee hours of Tuesday. The shop had closed at 11.30 pm on Monday. The images of the thieves were reportedly caught on the CCTV cameras of the establishment.

The theft came to the notice of the supermarket staff when they resumed operations on Tuesday. The supermarket is located at a corner of the road which wears a deserted look in the evening, and more so after road works started recently in the area. The shop remained closed in the forenoon Tuesday and police are investigating.
